The End-to-End Flow glossary
Every term here is used precisely across the methodology, the skills, and the guidance estate. These are the definitions.
-
Value increment
A unit of investable work that passes the litmus test: two or more features, a measurable outcome, spanning multiple sprints under a single accountable owner.
-
Innovation increment
A timeboxed investment in learning: a hypothesis-driven experiment or lighter enablement work, carrying learning objectives instead of delivery outcomes, with its timebox stated up front.
-
Value Delivery Planning
The quarterly decision event where the portfolio backlog meets real capacity: carryover accounted first, capacity loaded to roughly eighty percent, every pull and deferral documented, and a confidence check that can fail.
-
Delivery OS
The operational system of record where the portfolio actually lives: every initiative, increment, dependency, decision, and state in one governed place, readable by people and by the skills that operate it.
-
The Increment Delivery Chain
The agentic Claude Skills that operate the Delivery OS, fifteen today: the Chain defines work from objective to plan, the Rhythm operates the quarter, the Watch reads the portfolio every morning while the Bridge gives leadership the live command view, and the business-side skills open the same system to the people funding the outcomes.
-
The PDLC
The written product development lifecycle: the guidance estate covering the whole flow, strategic and tactical, where investment decisions, ordering, planning, and outcome measurement are practices with names and events with owners.
-
Intake queue
The buffer between the strategic and tactical sides: increments that have reached Ready to Implement, verified against the Definition of Ready, waiting to be pulled at the next planning event.
-
Definition of Ready
The value-stream standard an increment must meet before capacity commits to it: measurable outcomes, decomposed features, mapped dependencies, assessed risks, and acceptance criteria.
-
Context files
The versioned knowledge layer that carries an organization’s domain, vocabulary, personas, and constraints into every skill interaction, so outputs are specific to the organization rather than generic.
-
The continuous worked example
One connected thread of value carried through every practice page, from a customer idea to the tasks that shipped it, aggregated from more than two decades of engagements.
-
Value management office (VMO)
The successor the industry proposes for the PMO: an office accountable for value outcomes and flow rather than schedule compliance.
-
Value delivery office (VDO)
A common alternative name for the same destination as the VMO, emphasizing delivery flow.
-
The Chain (movement)
The definition movement of the Increment Delivery Chain: the skills that carry an investment decision from strategic objective to committed implementation plan, each skill’s output the next one’s input.
-
The Rhythm (movement)
The operating movement of the Increment Delivery Chain: the skills that run the quarter itself.
-
The Watch
The exception-based daily portfolio monitor: it reads the live Delivery OS and delivery reality every morning and reports by exception, evidence cited, owning role named, next step drafted.
-
The Bridge
The live command view for executive leadership and their reports: what moved, what stalled, what was committed and why, which outcomes arrived, with the evidence one question away.
-
The Door
The idea intake skill: the front of the system, where ideas arrive and leave evaluation-ready.
-
The Voice
The business read-back and expert knowledge capture skill: it gives the people funding the outcomes a plain-language read of where their investments stand, and it interviews the experts whose knowledge the system needs, landing what they know in the context files where every other skill can use it.
-
The Window
The business-line portfolio read: the view a business leader opens to see their own slice of the portfolio in their own vocabulary.
-
The Proof
The outcome review skill: it brings each delivered increment back to its accountable owner with the promised result beside the observed one, records the verdict, and lands it where the next ordering decision can read it.
